The Management and Employees of Keltic believe in a healthy environment for today and future generations.  We continue to show our commitment towards the environment by purchasing equipment that meets or exceeds the standards set to achieve significant reductions in green house gas emissions. 

This includes purchasing late model trucks that achieve the latest emission standards, the purchase of over 40 auxiliary power units (APU’s) which reduce engine idling for our trucks, introducing trailer belly fairings which improve fuel mileage, the installation of low profile tires which also improve fuel mileage. In addition, we have reduced our maximum truck speed to 105km and introduced an incentive program for our drivers and owner operators which rewards them for lowering engine idle time and average truck speed. 

In 2009, Keltic was approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a “SmartWay” approved carrier.  SmartWay Transport is an innovative collaboration between EPA and the freight sector designed to improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions, and improve energy security. There are only a handful of Canadian carriers who have applied for and been approved as a SmartWay Transport partner.
